Testing
Pearson Vue Testing
The ROE office is a Pearson Vue Authorized Testing Facility with availability on: Red Bud office Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All Pearson Testing appointments will be scheduled through the organization in which you are testing through. |
WorkKeys Testing

Background Checks & Fingerprinting
The Regional Office of Education offers several background checks and fingerprinting options for various entities. Reasons for Public Checks could include, but are not limited to: application for a Liquor License, Concealed Carry License (CCL), FOID card and LPN and RN degrees. Checks are also ran by the ROE for school district employees, volunteers and bus drivers.

Adult Education
GED Classes
Did you know GED classes are offered through the ROE at no cost to the student? Students may begin attending class at anytime. Instruction is individualized for each student's educational needs. Enrollment is open at all class locations in Columbia, Chester, Sparta, Steeleville and Waterloo. Find the class time that works best for you HERE! GED Transcripts

Beck School of Practical Nursing
Located on the campus of the Career Center of Southern Illinois (CCSI) is the Beck School of Practical Nursing. This 11 month program is full-time and offers classroom theory and clinical experience. A diploma and a recommendation to write the National Council of State Boards Exam for Practical Nursing are granted upon successful completion of the program. |
Work Permits
The ROE45 can issue Work Permits for students that will be employed within the State of Illinois and reside in Monroe or Randolph counties.

Outreach
Truancy Intervention
Truancy Programs are to ensure that students have equitable access to an education: by creating modified instructional programming and services to these students; by planning for truancy prevention and intervention services to students and their parents; and by offering part-time or full-time options to regular school attendance. Specifically for Monroe and Randolph counties, the Right Track Truancy Program is to increase attendance through education, intervention and a positive learning environment. In collaboration with our partners, we will foster responsibility in our schools, communities and families to ensure the health and well-being of each child. For more details, contact the ROE. The Maidez Center
Based in Monroe and Randolph counties, The Maidez Center serves Southwestern Illinois youth and families in need. Through a 100% volunteer basis support is given for social, emotional and academic needs. This organization is a non-profit 501(c)(3). |

Student Programs
Young Author's Conference
This is the moment to showcase your storytelling talents! Hosted for all students, K-8th grade, from all public and parochial schools in our region. Each school may send three representatives per 100 students enrolled. Information will be sent home with students by their school in March/April. Art Du' Jour
This event is designed for enrolled high school art students and hosted in conjunction with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). Spanning across seven categories, students are anonymously judged on their creation. Students also expand their techniques and knowledge by attending two art sessions conducted by experienced artist. Event is generally held in December. See your high school art teacher for more details. startUP Program
The Monroe and Randolph Counties startUP program is an entrepreneurial experience for high school students. Students are selected through an application process and experience first hand what it takes to become business owners. High school junior and seniors are eligible to apply through their guidance counselor. |
Spelling Contest
This event is an exciting way for 5th-8th graders to test their spelling skills. The event is hosted each spring at all Region #45 schools and is sponsored by the ROE. One student from each school is eligible to become the Regional Grade Level Champion. Schools will send home more details in March/April. Platinum Chef

Learning in the summer? Yes, please! each June, 3rd-8th grade girls gather for our annual STEMgirls Camp. This week-long, deep dive into science-related activities inspires girls to consider careers in STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathemathics). Applications are sent home with students by their schools in March/April. |
Art Festival
Do you have a young artist in 5th-8th grade that is ready to take their talents to the next level? One student from each school is eligible to participate in various genres of art. Schools will send home details on how to participate in March/April. Oerter Foundation
The Oerter Foundation proudly recognizes the top academic students in each graduation class from Dupo, Columbia, Waterloo, Gibault Catholic and Valmeyer high schools. Students are chosen by the respective school. Parents and students are invited to a special banquet honoring this accomplishment. One student from each school is also awarded a college scholarship. All students receive a certificate and medallion at the banquet. |

In the state of Illinois, Homeschooling is considered a form of private education. Parents who choose to educate their children at home are under the legal obligation to meet the minimum requirements stated in Illinois' Compulsory Attendance Law. Career Center of Southern Illinois
The mission of the Career Center of Southern Illinois (CCSI) is to provide integrated and relevant career and technical education, as well as employability and academic skills for high school junior and senior students, adults from surrounding communities and for "at risk" students. We believe that learning must take place in a nurturing, safe environment that recognizes the diversity of individuals while promoting equity for all. CCSI is also the home of Beck School of Practical Nursing. |

Regulatory Services
School Accreditation
Recognition status is granted to all school districts and schools in Monroe-Randolph counties on an annual basis based on review from ISBE and the Regional Superintendent of Schools. This status is indication of the level in which a school complies with provisions of the Illinois School Code and its implementing regulations. The status of each school is included in the respective school's Illinois Report Card. Ombudsman for Education
The Regional Superintendent of Schools is elected to serve all citizens in the region. As ombudsman for education, the Superintendent and the Regional Office of Education provides support and services related to education for everyone. Health & Life Safety
The health and safety of our students is the number one priority in education. Annual inspections of all school buildings are performed to ensure all safety regulations and procedures are being implemented. Regional Board of Trustees
The Regional Board of Trustees are elected officials that conduct hearings for the detachment and annexation of property from one school district to another school district. The Regional Superintendent serves as the Secretary Ex-Officio for this board. |
Construction & Renovation Permits
The Regional Superintendent of Schools is the authority having jurisdiction for all public schools. This includes all construction, building permits, regulatory inspections, and code adherence enforcement. |
